THE GRAY HOTEL // travel photography
Last week I was so excited to head up to Chicago and stay at The Gray - a stunning new hotel right in the heart of the Financial District.
And I have to say.... my love affair with Kimpton Hotels will never end!
The Gray is in what was once the historic New York Life Insurance Building - originally built in 1894. Incredibly, the building was slated to be demolished when Kimpton swooped in and saved the day! To imagine a beautiful, historic building like this torn down is devastating! Especially when you step into the new hotel and see every incredible detail that they have preserved and polished. From the breathtaking marble staircase in the entryway, to the marble walls, floors, baseboards and bannisters it's incredible to think that it could have all be destroyed.
Working in a place like this is my absolute dream and sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure it's all real. I can't believe I get to photograph spaces like this for a living! This is a small selection of lifestyle images I shot for the hotel. Stay tuned for more when I hope to head back!
