ROOM & BOARD // backyard renovation
We’ve made a lot of changes to our home since moving here two years ago, but for our very first major renovation project we took things OUTSIDE!
Our backyard was a bit of an eyesore and needed some serious work. It started as a gravel pit, with nothing but weeds and about 6 inches of solid gravel/rock across most of the yard. The ground was uneven, had almost no drainage and was pretty unusable. But an outdoor living space was really important to us - we love spending time out there together, with the pups, and especially hosting friends/family for patio parties. So we started drawing up plans early this year and got to WORK!
Over about 4 months we worked so hard ourselves and with a handful of contractors and now THIS is our backyard!! I pinch myself every day that our hard work resulted in this beautiful space and as the perfect finishing touch…we furnished the space with some GORGEOUS outdoor pieces from Room & Board.
Working with Room & Board is always such a joy. Their talented designers looked at our plans and recommended pieces to suit the space - creating conversation areas and encouraging movement from one area to the next. We wanted to have a large dining table for entertaining and this 8-seat Montego Dining Table was absolutely perfect!
We also created another little conversation spot using two Maya Swivel Chairs - which ended up being my absolute favorite addition!
We’ve spent so many beautiful days out here already - having lunch in the sun, hosting friends for fireside hangs or just sharing a bottle of wine together while the dogs run around their new yard! It’s just a total dream!
